I just bought a Mad Catz R.A.T. 5, and while the mouse itself is pretty good, the software is so bad I'm thinking about returning it.
Does any of you know how to set the **** buttons to do ANY of this?:
- Middle click (I need it for PyMOL).
- Use the "Precision Aim" advertised feature.
- Click AND HOLD the "Alt" (option) button, or any other button.

Or, even better, is there any third-party software to configure the buttons besides the (clunky) provided software?

Ok, I uninstalled Mad Catz's drivers and installed USB Overdrive, which is far better, but I still have an issue that will prevent me from keeping it if it persists: when I "hoover" over a menu item with the mouse pointer, it does nothing. I have to click every single item of the menu bar to highlight them.

I temporarily solved the problem by choosing “using global settings” in left click button (and right click), but it stopped working again and now I can’t get it to work (and when it does, it works intermittently).

Any idea of how to fix it?
