For the past few months Ive had this maddening itch on instep of my left foot. There is no sign of athletes foot, there are no signs of bug bites...It actually feels like it is underneath the skin, and is driving me bonkers. There have been a few times where I have almost scratched that part of my foot raw trying to get relief.

Medicated powders such as gold bond, and even lotrimin offer some relief, but not for long.

Have brought this up to my family doctor, but he doesn't have a clue...

ANyone here experienced this??

No history of diabetes, right?

B

hmmm...no, not yet anyway.

Possible need for a neurological consult, after a dermatological consult, of course. I'm thinking some neuro inflammation causing the itching. Since topicals aren't working...possibly something deeper.

Just a guess...

Edit: Hydroxyzine HCl is used for itching...but I would want to know the underlying cause (if possible) before I went the med route.
