Dear fellow Mac users,

Hi, my name is Klien.

I'm from Japan.

I work for a company where they make iPod chargers.

We are thinking that our product will sell in US too,
but we do not know if MFi (Made For iPod) license is mandatory.
(Do we have to get MFi license to sell our product in US?)

If not, that's good, but is it safe?
If we need to, would somebody tell us why?

I know this post could be off topic for this forum,
but we could not find any information anywhere.

We appreciate your help.

Best Regards,

Thank you

Thank you for your reply.
I will check how much MFi license cost.

MFi License

If I do not get MFi License, I cannot put "iPhone(iPod) compatible"?

I can put "iPhone(iPod) charger", right?

I heard MFi program people have bad attitude about customer service.

I recommend if you intend on seriously getting into the US iPod accessory market you get the license personally if I went looking for a new dock for my iPhone/iPod I would choose the one that had the MFi logo on it as it seems more trustworthy.

You don't have to get it. But if you can afford it I highly recommend it.

No business advice here just personal advice.

Thank you everyone.

Thank you everyone for help.

I wish there is a document or a statement about this from Apple.

Best Regards,
