made new account how do i transfer my stuff over?

basically my mac decided to fail on me on the worst possible time ever. During finals it decided to no highlight.

i reinstalled the os last night i did migration assistent. and it worked it in that new account. But then i logged into my old account and it is stil not high lighting text?????

any idea why this may be happening.
