Hi my magsafe power adapter continues to stay orange even after it has completed charging this just happened for the first time today it has never happened before so i am confused is something wrong with the adapter do i need to replace it?

Try calibrating your battery. Then see what happens with the light. It sounds like your mac thinks your battery is at 100% when it isnt and so it continues to charge.
That happens with me sometimes. I calibrate my battery too but it doesn't seem to matter why and when it happens. Usually a restart or shutdown will fix it though for me.
