Magic Keyboard and Trackpad battery status stuck

I use an M1 MBA in clamshell mode with a Magic Keyboard and Trackpad. I first used Perculia and more recently Toothpicks to show battery status of those devices in my menubar. At some point, my Keyboard always shows 10% battery remaining and my Trackpad 7% even though the Bluetooth System Pref panel shows different values. I think it strange that both third party apps show the same wrong values. I've tried unpairing/repairing the devices and deleting/reinstalling the apps but no change. I've reached out to the app developers but no response (and both apps haven't been updated in 2 years anyway). Anyone have any idea of how I can get the battery remaining working again in these third party apps?
