Thought I would give my results on how backlighting works on my IPP 12.9 MK black vs white. Since I had some time on my hands I decided to run a comparison test. With average room lighting on my desk The black MK would always show about 1/4 lighting on the scale bar while the white keyboard would alway go to 0. While in coffee shop or outside both always went to 0 as expected. Seems like they are calibrated different but both work good. The white keyboard just works more like I expected. Anyone else done a side by side test?

I have the white MKB but the visibility is noticeably better when using the backlight on the the black version. Characters are more defined, and in some light the white backlight against the white keys can be difficult to see. I never had this issue with the black MKB.
