Just received my brand new $350 Magic Keyboard and it appears to be slightly defective. Functionally, everything seems to be working just fine. However, it looks like the material on the bottom section of the keyboard below the trackpad has separated. You can see in my photo where there's dried up glue visible from the separation. I'm going to call Apple about having them replace it. I hate to be too picky, but for $350, I expect as close to perfect as possible.

Ug. That sucks. Hopefully, they send you a replacement while letting you use that one.

Looks like the afternoon shift was on call when they were putting some of these together

Yes I would replace that as well, for 350 it has to be perfect. And I looked over mine with a fine tooth comb as well. just as other said that they let you keep that one until a replacement comes in or something.

That’s good to hear! I have an issue with separation in one of the palm areas. Did they give you a time-frame on replacement and are they making you give a credit card for replacement?

As always, Apple is taking care of me. Sending out a replacement and allowing me to use the defective one in the meantime. At least it still works just fine!

They would not give me a time frame, and they wanted to put a hold on my credit card for time time being but I didn’t want to do that. It took a while, but I was finally able to get them to do it for me without placing a hold on my CC. They actually suggested just buying another case entirely and returning the defective one. Might be the best bet if you want it ASAP.. could order from Best Buy or Verizon like others have suggested in other threads and then just return the defective one within your 14-day return policy. They also mentioned you can use the keyboard up until the 14th day, call Apple on the 14th day and request a refund, that could buy you a couple of extra days. I’m in no hurry for a new one though since this one works perfectly fine, just cosmetic damage.. so I’m willing to wait for the replacement to show up.

Thanks for the information!
