I’ve found that the trackpad will suddenly behave as if it is right click only. This will happen suddenly and for no reason I can see. If I detach the 12.9 2018 iPad from the keyboard and then reattach, the problem goes away. I generally love the keyboard and it has transformed the way I use the iPad, but this is annoying. Anyone else had the same issue?

Yes, lately a couple of times the trackpad has behaved erratically such as sticking in the upper left corner. I do the same thing, just detach the iPad. I'm trying to note what I've done just before it starts doing that though.

I’d not considered that! I don’t know why not. Just thought I’d got to live with it until there’s a software update. How about you?

It's only done it a couple times for me, but my MK is covered under Applecare+ so I wouldn't hesitate to contact them if the frequency increases.

I bought it through Amazon and I have until 31 July to return it. I’m not sure. I was using the folio case with a mouse before and that worked well. It’s just that the keyboard is so nice on this!! On the other hand, £350 is a lot to spend on a keyboard. We’ll see!!!

Yes, such a dilemma when you can still return it. I'm sure (based on nothing but hope) we'll see updated versions of the MK, but I wasn't willing to wait.

Update! On a whim I changed the secondary click setting to left from right click and it seems to be working ok. I’ve cancelled my return. For now Lol. Will he, won’t he? You must be on the edge of your seats. Not.

Ah, that's interesting. I use my secondary on the right as well.

Thanks for the update and glad you got it working as you want.

If the Magic Keyboard starts acting up in the coming days, you can pretty much bank on the fact that it will probably be software related, whether it is a IOS bug or you changed a setting and forgot what you did. If the Magic Keyboard keys don’t depress like they should, magnets no longer holding, or the trackpad isn’t registering type thing, then that would speak to a hardware problem.

I‘m sure you’re right. The keyboard itself is so nice on this thing, it’s worth it just for that really. I tried going back to my folio keyboard and it just felt pedestrian in comparison. The other bugbear is of course battery life. This thing eats batteries for dinner. I don’t even have the backlight on and it’ll gobble up 10% in about 20 -25 mins.

I have been getting great battery life with my Magic Keyboard. I have been easily getting 10 - 13 hours of use before needing to charge. Granted, I have been using the set up in a fully lit room most of the time. I also don’t keep my Apple Pencil connected, which would use more battery.

Last night, as I was using the Flipboard app. I had issues getting the upper right hand return arrow to work. I finally re-booted and it worked the rest of the night. I’m sure it is an app. problem. Just navigating with the trackpad I can tell that this app. is NOT MK trackpad ready.

Are you running the beta? If not, there was an article in the last day or so, that stated the new SDK (app aspect) for Facebook was causing problems for a lot of people.

Ok, I might try just using the web version and see if that makes any difference. I’ve only had one glitch since I changed the secondary click setting, so fingers crossed!

I’ve had several intermittent issues...backlight not turning on...backlight not turning off...keyboard not working but trackpad works normally. Usually resolved by lifting the ipad off the keyboard and replacing it.
