So Cal
I must have a setting set incorrectly but I can’t find it. Why does the virtual keyboard pop up even though I’m using the new Magic Keyboard.

Thanks for any help.

I think I've had a related problem. Sometimes after having my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9" in the MK, and then swathing to the plain old Apple folio I cannot get the virtual keyboard to come up on the screen. Yes, I've pulled it off and placed the plain old folio on and off. I then re-boot several times, and finally get the virtual keyboard back.

I've also don't a "system preferences reset". Though I have not done a total reset.

Maybe it is hardware? I just don't know.

Where was it in accessibility?
its in the assistive touch area. here’s a screenshot of it. reply back if you need more help.

So, if you turn off the on-screen keyboard, what happens when you use the iPad without a case or with the original Apple folio. Do you have to remember to turn it back on?
no, it just works like normal. if you have a keyboard connected, no on screen keyboard will appear, but when you don’t have a keyboard connected you’ll get it.

Well unfortunately on my iPad sometimes, even when I pull it off the MK the virtual won’t come up. It only fails on a sporadic basis. Thanks for the help!

Have this issue sometimes and fast way of fixing it is turning bluebooth off and then back on.
