Need a new magic keyboard (tired of the Logitech blocking sleep mode) and wondering whether to buy the expensive Touch ID one or the one without. I've got an intel MacBook Pro 2020, and I understand the Touch ID won't work on it. Surely everything else works on it?? I will probably upgrade to a newer MacBook Pro in the next year or two. That said, I use my MacBook most of the time in clamshell mode and I read conflicting reports that Touch ID still does not work when in clamshell mode? I find touch idea handy for filling out passwords, although I rarely use Apple Pay on my MacBook, and currently have to type password every time as my MacBook is in clamshell mode. I don't lock my MacBook as it sits at home with only me using it. The lock button would probably just be annoying.... So can anyone speak from experience? How does the touch id work in clamshell mode for M1 Macs? How does it work on intel machines? Thanks.
