With the upcoming iMac and Mac Pro refresh with Apple Silicon, do you think we will see a refresh on the accessories? It would be nice to have the Trackpad or Mouse, but if a new one is coming out I can wait. The Magic Mouse can't be charged while being used and I hope they fix that. I also hope they move everything to USB C instead of Lightning connections.

New mouse would be great but I've got zero expectations that it will actually happen.

I just got a Magic Mouse 2, and I gotta say, kinda mediocre. The Logitech I use with my work laptop is a good bit better about what type of surface it'll work with. I had the original Magic Mouse from over a decade ago, and I think the only difference is that I can charge this one (and it comes in black). For a $100 accessory, it's probably time to make some upgrades.

On the upside, I only just found out how good a MacBook trackpad was. I don't really need a mouse like I do with my work laptop. I finally understand why someone would buy a trackpad for a desktop.

I can't imagine how those devices could be any better honestly. Other than the way how Magic Mouse 2 charges of course. If I may I'd like to say my kinda story with the Magic Mouse.

I know that so many people say that the Magic Mouse sucks and it's ergonomically terrible. I have a completely different experience. I've been using computers and playing games since I could basically walk. I always used gaming mouses with ergonomical shape and high DPI.

Last year in May my right hand started hurting so much that I had to stop using my mouse with it and I spent like 3 months using it with my left hand, which was absolutely terrible experience. I already had the first Magic Mouse but I never used it since I got it in like 2012. Last year I was thinking about switching to wireless mouse and keyboard anyway, so I went and say to myself that I'll give it a shot.

Long story short, I got M1 Mac mini and Magic Keyboard 2 too and my right hand doesn't hurt at all thanks to the Magic Mouse. When I try to use my gaming mouse my hand hurts instantly. People say that the Magic Mouse sucks because you rest your hand on it too low and the shape is bad. I'm pretty sure that's what makes it great because you rest your hand in a more natural position closer to the table in comparison with an unnaturally curved wrist and fingers with a traditional mouse. Now I can't imagine using my Mac without the Magic Mouse because I love all the intuitive gestures that you can use in macOS.

I'm with you. I actually love the low profile. I just forget to charge the darn thing even when I have reminders set for me to do it once a week to be safe. I have never had any hand issues with it. My only complaint is the lack of charging ability while using. I love using a trackpad, I just don't know if I can use it as a daily driver for a desktop.

MagSafe Magic Mouse?

Anyone? Anyone?

Yeah - I've always had a PC at work (with normal mouse / keyboard), but during the past year WFH, I've basically gone full-time on my 13" MBP closed clamshell into an external monitor with Apple Magic Keyboard and Trackpad 2.

I always had the trackpad setup at home, but was more personal / casual. I wasn't sure how I'd deal with doing full-time work using the Trackpad 2. I've loved it, haven't skipped a beat! I would say the only times I sort of feel the difference is having to highlight / copy-paste big walls of text. Having to click, then drag large amounts on the trackpad is a bit more cumbersome than if I had a mouse. But these instances are few and far between.

I work in excel mostly, and I think all the clicking and dragging would become an issue. But my Mac is my personal computer, and I only do light spreadsheeting with it (you know, for fun). For the email and internet browsing I do most of the time, it's pretty great.

The mouse has been nice to have around, as needed. But it sure would be nice if they'd make it work better on my kitchen counter.

You're right - I don't work in excel as much as I did 5-8 years ago (which was a lot), but I still do on occasion these days. And you're right, that's when the difference in usability vs a mouse is very apparent. It also is the one time it's very noticeable that the Mac keyboard doesn't function as smoothly with Windows / Excel environment, as shortcuts and easy movement between cell / worksheets is definitely hindered. I'm just lucky I'm not working as much in Excel today as I did earlier in this job - it definitely wouldn't've been worth it to go with the Mac kb/tp setup then.

Well, that's suck. We can't separately buy the new keyboard and mouse announced with the M1 iMac.

Given the iMacs came out with refreshed magic keyboards with Touch ID and trackpads, I imagine pretty soon, they'll release the same updates to the standard Magic Keyboard also (especially to add the Touch ID), in the classic silver and hopefully in the space gray as well.

Maybe to coincide with the higher end iMac Pro (or Mac Pro) with Apple Silicon when it gets released? I'm hoping that the next big Mac announcements will be: 14" / 16" MBPs and iMac Pros with M1X or M2, with accessory updates to go with them.

Does the Magic Mouse 2 use the same click mechanism as the original? I'm so used to force-touch trackpads and buttons now that when I use my original Magic Mouse it feels like I need to push it a mile to get it to click.

If there is a Magic Mouse 3, I wish they update it with Magsafe charging capability, new USB-C port in front, newest Bluetooth, more color option, better gesture option. I know most people hate this mouse but when you paired it with Better Touch Tool, Magic Mouse is one of the best option out there.

I'm pretty sure it does. I've used both for years and the only difference was the transition from battery to charging for me.

The new Touch ID keyboard also only works with M1 Macs. I'm really disappointed in the accessories update. They pretty much just added color and slightly changed the enclosures. No real innovation and didn't bother fixing the existing issues.

Has anyone tried using this POS in Google Earth? Scroll in and suddenly the MM/2 decides it wants to scroll to the left - or right - or out or farther in. Then changes the view so rather than looking straight down, it adds perspective, which I DO NOT WANT!

I don't have any real issues with the "feel" or design but it's unceasing desire to impose it's will on what I want to do in Google Earth is ABSOLUTELY INFURIATING!!!! Just touching the dam thing causes it to make changes to the current display. A minor improvement on the original, but ready to go in the trash . . .
