I've purchased Magic Mouse 2 from an Authorized Apple Reseller and fully charged it less than 2 weeks ago for the very first time. It's currently at 3 percent charge. My (also new) Magic Keyboard however sits at comfortable 87 percent. Both were fully charged the same day.

I heard the battery on Mouse is supposed to last two months and I got barely 2 weeks out of it. There are some isolated complaints of battery drain related to the mouse specifically, but nothing that would indicate a widespread issue. Should I or should I not return it?

macOS Big Sur 11.6 on M1 MBA.

Well, I guess it depends on how much you use it. Are you using it all day / every day? If so, then 2 weeks might be reasonable. If you're only using it part of the day (e.g. in the morning, then you're away at work, then you use it again that night) then you should get much longer use out of a charge. The latter is my situation, and though I think I get about 3-4 weeks out of a charge. That's great to me. My only complaint is that you can't charge it while using it, unlike the Magic Keyboard. However, it charges super quickly (couple minutes) to get another few hours use out of it if you need to before plugging it in for a full charge.

So if you're only getting 2 weeks out of it with relatively light use, then I'd say it's worth exchanging it for another just to be sure.

Keyboard will always get WAY more time out of a charge compare to a mouse.

Thanks for the reassuring reply. Yeah, I use it a ton, sometimes pulling 16-hour days. I work from home so this is my only machine. Basically, the 2 weeks promise is based on someone who uses it sparingly throughout the day not me?

So then that sounds like a reasonable amount of time for a charge based on your usage. I just looked up the Magic Mouse on Apple's website, and they actually state "about a month or more" for the estimated battery life. However, they don't give any footnote disclaimers about how they arrived at that estimate (e.g. "based on 8 hours of usage per day; results may vary based on mouse functions being used", etc.).

Oh, okay. I don't know how I arrived at the 2 month number then. Must've been iMore article or something. 2 weeks doesn't sound half bad when compared to Apple specs and given my usage. I'll keep it. Exchanging products is an aggravation anyway. I might end up with less charge.

Thank you.

Thanks. I see you've replaced yours. Did it do anything for you? I charged mine less thank 24 hours ago. It's at 80 percent right now, but the last full charge also dropped unproportionally quickly in the beginning and ended up lasting 2 weeks anyway. What did in-store reps say?
The new mouse lasts a real long time on a charge--two months or longer. I did my replacement request over the phone with Apple support. Told them because of COVID I did not want to go to a store. Don't have a store close by anyway. I bought the first one from Apple on-line. Had a new one next day. Had to send them the old one in a return package Apple supplied.

Could it be an OS thing? I tossed out my old MM2 and replaced it by a new one today. The old mouse lost like 50 percent over night. I bought the new mouse a month ago and had it still wrapped just in case. I connected the new one 12h ago and it's already 10 pct down? My old MM also went down 10 pct a day before the mass lost of charge, in the past however it really didn't lose that much. The only other reason I can think of is the charging cable lying on my desk. I have limited space so it lies between my mini and the mouse?
