My Magic Mouse 2 lately has been very erratic. Halting movement abruptly, cursor jumping, freezing, delayed response, etc. My assumption is interference but the only things around it was a PC, my iPhone, AirPods, and a bluetooth headset.

How can we test Magic Mouse and bluetooth interference? Or is there not a way? Nothing else has any issues, just the mouse. Its fully charged, etc.

Any tips are appreciated.

A long time. Maybe about 8 months or so? Yes battery runs fine and holds charge fine. It really feels like there is some kind of interference with the signal. It's just odd. I dont want to order a new one if its something that will just carry over. So Im trying to figure out how I can even test it.

Having the exact same experience. Got a brand new apple magic mouse in the last 6 months and after a few weeks of normal operation it has started to freeze, jump, and skip around. It's extremely annoying. Few things I've tried was deleting magic mouse Bluetooth plist files, resetting bluetooth module, resetting connected apple devices... disconnecting and reconnecting.. using my desk surface instead of a mouse pad...

Honestly everything seems to help temporarily and then the symptoms resume.

Yep and I still haven’t found a solution. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've had the same thing happening with my Magic Trackpad 2, I'll put my finger on it, drag and it will take the cursor like a second to react. Only in Wireless mode though. Connected and Charging it's perfect. I noticed these problems only started for me after 10.15 so possibly Software related?

Experiencing these issues on Mojave, but it definitely could be something that came about in newer OS updates..

What worked for me is this:

UNCHECK "Allow HandOff" Option in the General Settings.

So, I was going crazy.

I tried everything else with no results before, including the following:
- removed wifi router from the area and relocated it away from the computer desk (hard work)
- moved a camera that uses 2.4GHz frequency because I though it might be interfering
- deleted mouse bluetooth settings files from the ~/library
- Switch off mouse, deleted mouse from mac, removed mouse connection from the other mac.
- Moved my apple watch charger away to avoid any possible interference because of its magnetic charger.

All in vain.
The simple solution was to just uncheck the "Allow handoff" option.

Hope this works for you and your life returns to normal.

:D

This is driving me nuts it still does it. I feel like it didn't do this when I was running el cap. I skipped high sierra and now that I'm at mojave it's just so ****ing laggy! Using USB 3.0 devices made it way worse. I think I'm going to unplug my USB 3.0 card and see if it still does it.

No, I don't have airpods. If anyone has a fix, please let me know. I've just given up and am using my old razor mouse... it sucks because the multitouch on the magic mouse was super helpful for video editing to scroll left and right.

Also, idk why but sometimes my BT just fails. I get a grey squiggle in the menu bar, and it won't work again until I reboot. This is without moving the machine, so I don't believe it's a bad connection.... it just randomly fails completely. A reboot fixes it... until it dies again.

You could try getting a USB BT dongle as the internal MP5,1 antenna is pretty bad.

I was hoping this would work and it didn't :( now trying to see if there is an app conflicting. I did all the standard stuff like zapping pram disconnecting and reconnecting bluetooth. I even bought a new mouse. Which seemed to work at first. then all went crazy again.

I'm experiencing similar issue with my Magic Mouse 2, worked fine since 2015.

What I'm noticing is that the top part of the mouse is is a little loose and I can push it side to side about 1 mm (left to right top vs the bottom half). Play with it a little bit and the issue comes and goes, but I'm certain this is it.
I'm likely going to buy a new one, because I do love the touch scrolling/swipping.

What mouse did you end up buying the same Magic Mouse 2?

Parallel to this the only thing I have new is a Secret Lab Chair which has some magnets in it. Maybe is interference from this?

Yes strong Magnets WILL affect BlueTooth! It was has it and it still happens today!
