Does the Apple device provide any additional functional capability over say the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S under 13.4? I know they work differently (scroll wheel, buttons, etc.) but does the MM2 "work better"? The 2S has an advantage in that I can readily switch it back and forth between my 12.9 Pro and my docked laptop (where it works great).

I think you answered your own question. The MM2 works differently. The MM is a love/hate thing. I much prefer gaming mice that have lots and lots of buttons. My current mouse is a Roccat Tyon with 14 buttons. I don't game anymore. I just like lots of buttons for productivity purposes.

You can program a MM to have as many commands as a mouse with lots of buttons, but then you have to remember a lot of different arcane swipe motions and many of those motions are so similar to others that it's easy to get them mixed up.

I did use a MM for some time though. I did it to experience it and also for a while when I had a hand injury that made an ultra flat mouse the only thing I could use comfortably.

Thanks for the response. That was basically my thought but wondered if I was missing anything.

There are things I like about the gestures on a MM. It's just that I think a proper "gaming mouse" with physical buttons is easier to use and it's easier to remember how you have buttons mapped.

When I am using a trackpad or the MM, I use Better Touch Tool to expand my library of programmable gestures. With the extra gestures, I get extra functionality, but it's hard to remember that a swipe with three fingers opens a document, a tap with three fingers saves it, and a press with three fingers closes the window. I have tons of actions like that mapped out. I use my mouse like it's a second keyboard that I can use with one hand. It saves me a lot of time.

The MM can work in that capacity, which is more than you can say about most mouse devices, but it just isn't very practical unless you're super committed to training yourself to use an extended set of gestures that don't make a lot of sense.

Since my docked laptop is Win10, I would likely only use the MM with the iPad so I'll stick with the Logitech mouse with easy switching between devices. From a functional perspective, looks like it will be just fine (and I'll the $ - the MM2 is not cheap).
