I've got an imac, and I use Apple's magic mouse-- the sort with the trackpad instead of buttons. Recently I was watching a DVD, and noticed that Apple repurposed a gesture or two into DVD fast forward and reverse.

I do not enjoy this behavior-- I usually play the DVDs on a secondary monitor, while doing other things. and thus tend to touch the mouse more than the writers of this program might have expected. Is there any way to turn this gesture off so that I can just watch the program without having to pay attention to what my fingers might be doing?

I've never had a magic mouse, so I don't know for sure, however I do have a track pad. The trackpad gestures can all be disabled via the trackpad item in system preferences. Perhaps there is a magic mouse item in system preferences which you can use.
