My wireless Magic Mouse has been frequently getting "disconnected" when I lift it as much as a 1/4 inch off the mouse pad to reposition the cursor. The battery is at 75% so that's not an issue. I have to wait around 20 seconds and then when I click it reconnects.

This obviously is not working correctly. Any ideas as to if its the mouse or perhaps the Bluetooth connection.

BTW I have a 2008 iMac.

My MM was playing up in a similar manner.

It would disconnect, but then refuse to reconnect or even display the green "power" led, a battery swap did nothing.

Eventually I took in under AppleCare and they swapped it.

No problems since, I guess mine had a dry joint or similar

Your batteries may be a bit loose. Try securing them by putting some paper or something between them. You can also try cleaning the contacts inside the mouse.

There's a whole thread about this on discussions.apple.com
