My Magic Mouse loses connection more than 50% of the time after I switch users on my M1 Mac mini.

It only disconnects in one direction, i.e. immediately after switching from User A to User B. It never disconnects when switching from User B to User A. I have to wait a minute or so for the disconnection to be recognised, then I have to switch the mouse off, wait a bit more, and then switch it back on for it to reconnect.

I have 2 magic mice, and they both show the same problem on this computer, so it's not a problem with the mouse itself.

As it only disconnects when switching in one direction, I presume it can't be an interference problem, and I'm guessing it must be a software issue with the user where it disconnects?

Any suggestion as to what I can try to solve this please?

My guess would be that the mouse has not been "properly activated" on the 'user B' account. You might need a wired mouse? On user B, go to Bluetooth in System Settings, right-click on the device, you get "Connect" and "Forget". Connecting it here would hopefully 'stick' the next time you switch users back'n forth.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I've just done that, and I'll see how I get on as I use the computer throughout the day.

I haven't had any disconnections today, so it's looking promising!
I think perhaps there are two "states" of bluetooth connection; One is where you've set the mac to always recognize a specific device, and another where the mac recognizes a BT device and lets you connect to it temporarily. I'm just guessing. But I've always had to actively connect in the BT settings, maybe even 'forget' and then 'connect' again, to make it stick properly.

Unfortunately, the problem hasn't gone away, I'm still getting disconnects after switching users about half of the time.

I've realised the magic keyboard is also disconnecting, so it look the computer is losing all Bluetooth connections.

I'm not sure what else to try.
