Recently my magic mouse started acting weird. When I single click a word, it selects it, like if I had double clicked on it. Moreover, when I trying selecting a large phrase, by clicking on its end and dragging the cursor, the selectiong highlight stops midway and starts selecting other stuff, even tough I did not unclicked the mouse.

My OS X is also acting weird to a less degree, taking time to connect to my wi-fi after startup and the icons from movie files disappearing and reapering...

My HD is 99% full, Im about to change Macs, but wondering if this issue is known to magic mouses, been 2 years since I got it.

You probably have already checked this but just want to mention that you can first check if the battery level is good in your mouse. Low battery can cause weird behavior of the mouse. You can also try to delete the mouse from bluetooth device and reconnect it to see if it solves the problem. It could also be tear and wear in the mouse itself over time. I don't have the same problem with my Magic Mouse but I do have similar experience with two of the logitech mouses I used with my PC before. Single click act like double click. The reason for that mouse is that the metal spring under the mouse button get dirty and pushed down over time. Cleaning the metal piece and bend it a little bit usually help solve the problem. But it only extends the life of the mouse for several weeks before it is getting back again.

I am not sure how you can open the magic mouse. It seems to be a little more difficult than the old mouse I have since Magic Mouse have some parts glued together. You can find video tutorial on youtube.

re: double clicks from 1-click

Same with me.

Workaround: Hang ten. No. Hang your index finger 1/4 inch over top edge of the Magic Mouse so that the pressure of your finger is on the very tippy-top edge of the mouse.

I've had an ongoing issue with my MM. When I first got it, it occasionally would give me a right click menu when I left clicked it. I was very careful about where I pressed and it was just not correct. It was also very intermittent. I returned the mouse and got another one after resetting the PRAM. The new mouse worked fine for a while, then started doing the same thing. Again, intermittent, maybe once or twice an hour on all different apps and browsers. I finally gave up and got a trackpad last week, which I'm learning. So far it has not exhibited behavior like that of the mouse. Clearly it's an OS issue since it occurred with two different mice. I just don't feel like reinstalling everything in the hopes that will fix the problem.

re: double clicks with 1 click.
