Magic mouse lags on my late '13 maxed out MBP

Magic mouse lags hard when I'm doing CPU intensive stuff (photoshop, lightroom, etc.) It's obviously because of the strain on the CPU, but it's much worse than I would have expected. This is a totally maxed out MBP so it's very disappointing and I'm hoping there is a fix or workaround for it? I've gone back to my old wired PC mouse which works flawlessly but I want to use the magic mouse.
