I am using a trackpad and magic mouse with my i5 mac-mini. Both were working fine but after coming back from holidays after two months I observed that the magic mouse is not working properly. The top side of the magic mouse works properly and I can navigate the web pages from side to side or scroll vertically with the top portion of the mouse. However the bottom part does not work on a mac. I cannot select any object and click with it. I tried to clean the bottom lens and it does work sluggishly on a Windows PC but however it does not work on a mac. I have charged the batteries to 100% but still the problem persists. Kindly help.

My gut says that whatever surface you have the mouse on is too smooth. That’s the type of behavior I would expect in that situation. Optical mice always had issues on our lab tables at work and I had to remind students to use a mousepad or something with a texture under the mouse.

If that doesn’t solve it, it may be time for a new mouse.

I will try to use it with something with a texture under the mouse.
