Magic Trackad 2, connection delay

I noticed something.

If I turn on my magic trackpad, it doesn't connect unless i tap it or do something.
Is it normal behaviour?

I use a 2020 M1 Macbook pro, trackpad when it's docked for use with external monitor.

I've had similar behavior with two different trackpads. I think it's just trying to go into low power mode. If you leave it connected via a lightning cable then there is no such delay.
