Guys I'd like to buy a Magic Trackpad for my 2023 MBP. I've seen there's a Magic Trackpad AND a Magic Trackpad 2. But I can't see what the differences are. What's the latest? and what are the differences between the 2?

Also there are two revisions of Trackpad 2. (source Reddit)

Get either of the gen 2. If you plan to get an external keyboard along the way, get the gen 2, revision 2 (so it fits with the keyboard).

Thank you. So the gen 2 is Sept 21 right - as in magic track pad 2 rather than magic track pad?

And when you say keyboard, do you mean the Apple magic keyboard? I'm planning on buying this with the touch I'd key. Just waiting for a sale though.

Yeah, magic keyboard. The old one has more squared corners, the new one has rounded corners + touchID. So they changed the trackpad also to fit.

Just check the corners when you buy it. They're pretty obvious.

This my setup. Magic Keyboard (old, without touchID) and Magic Trackpad 2 (old, sharp corners).

Lots of people get one for free with an iMac and sell them immediately brand-new still in their plastic wrapping. Much cheaper than any discount you can get from Apple or a retailer.

Thanks for the tip Gudi. I'll check out eBay again. I did notice when searching for the trackpad that there were a lot of keyboards too. But why would anyone sell the keyboard when they'd need it for their iMac???

One person told me, they already had a keyboard and wanted Apple to sell them the iMac without one and make it cheaper, but they refused. Another one bought it as an accessory for a MacBook and later realized they don't need it. This is the most common reason, people don't use their Macs as much as they initially thought and try to get back some of the money.

Try Craigslist instead of eBay for an even lower price and the opportunity to test before paying.

Alas, I'm in the UK 😄

What kind of sales discounts have you seen and when do they usually occur? My magic mouse is getting old and I'm thinking about giving a trackpad a try.
I've not really looked yet, but here in the UK we get some bank holiday deals on occasions so going to see if these are also on sale. It's a bank holiday this weekend and then another one in 2 weeks, so 🤞

Right, I require some expert eyes again please 😁

Are these the curved version? Also, what product number should I be looking out for for the curved version?

Fourth link is almost certainly the new model.

Third link is definitely the old one.

First link also probably the new one.

Second link not enough data.

Thanks mate. I'll pull the product code from the 4th link and use that to search too. Hoping to get the trackpad and keyboard for next week as looking to re-start a long standing script, which I've been procrastinating on :)

The first one's from Portugal, I'm in the UK. would that make any difference?

The 3rd one I was almost certain of being the new one. The corners looked curved rather than square.

And this one is using the product code a1535

Meh, now I believe all of them are older revisions. Product code A1535 appears to be the same.

Number 4 has a USB-C cable in the photos, but it's actually the wrong cable (should be braided, this one is not).

I don't know, this is tricky :(.

Haha! Maybe I need to look out for the ones where the pictures clearly show the curve 🤣
