Check the headphone jack hole for a light. If there is no light, you're safe; if that problem continues, return it! ;)

What does a light in the headphone jack hole indicate? Water damage? Sounds like a complex solution to a simple need. But I guess its harder to circumvent than the colored pads that people can replace.
