I have gotten use to using the magnet mount in my car for the iphone for a few years now. One of the big things i love about the new phones is that they use wireless charging, now im wondering if the plate i need to use on the iphone 7 will A.) be needed with the iPhone X or does it have a plate built in for the charging? and B.) would the plate block any charging ?.
I see on amazon there are QI chargers built into magnet mounts for the car but not sure if any of the other none apple phones have some plate built in so it does't need a plate etc.

Any thoughts ??

The closer the iPhone back is to the actual charger the faster it will charge. At best, charging will be slow. Not sure how the plate will do but it will likely slow down the charging. How much, let us know.

I have been wondering the same thing. Here is a post I found about an android phone: https://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus5/comments/2j1r9h/does_having_a_metal_plate_in_my_case_prevent_me/

My guess is it may take some trial and error to find out where the coil is located on the new iPhones then try to put the plate (maybe cut down) somewhere not blocking the coil. If the coil does span the entire back of the case it may not work. I am hoping once some people get the 8s we will know more before the X goes on pre-order.

It sounds silly but I would rather have magnetic docking in my car over wireless charging. I really hope something like this would be possible: http://www.theairdock.com
