Talking about the mounts that come with the slim piece of metal to attach inside your case that attracts the mount base. Do you need that piece on these MagSafe phones with a case? Or will the phone stick securely to the base without it?
 
Depends on how strong the magnets are in the mount. I buy a decent case (link) that has magnets in it too. I usually attach a ring / kickstand to the case via magnets / MagSafe and it takes a lot of effort to get the ring off. If I attach the ring directly to the phone, it's less effort to remove. I never took physics so I couldn't give you an exact difference in the effort.
