magsafe 1 to magsafe 2 issue

Hi guys, I have an older MBP charger and an rMBP. I have the little Apple MagSafe 2 adpater, but when I connect it the light doesnt go on the charger cable, it just it just powers it. After a while, maybe 1 hour or 2 hours, the charge light comes on.

I tried on 2 rMBPs, same thing. I tried on 2 similar chargers, same thing. I assume its the small adapter.?

I am using my 60W power adapter from my 2008 Aluminium MacBook on my 2014 rMBP and the light also doesn't come on sometimes. It still charges and powers the computer fine so I'm not too fussed about it. Maybe it's the conversion that confuses the power adapter whether the LED should be on.

It wasn't working over the weekend but now it's working again so haha.

Charge LED is driven by the small middle pin. So check if it is not stuck or bad on the magsafe 1 plug or the adapter.
