I'm planning to buy an M2 MBA. I'm interested in whether its MagSafe adapter will power the MBA that I purchased in 2012. Based on https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201700, it looks like they are compatible.

I ask because the 2012 MBA's charging brick has a cable that's frayed to the point that it's almost impossible to charge. So I'd like to use the M2 MBA's charger to power the old MBA long enough to pull files off of it.

curnalpanic is correct.

If by chance you have an even older MBA or MBP with magsafe : the cheapest way is a magsafe : magsafe 2 adapter. Or visit an Apple Store - they'll usually help out ime.
