So i just bought an apple macbook pro 2012 13" base model, it has megsafe 1 rcently i got to now that apple just released megsafe 2, and I was like what the hell I just boguht this laptop and then bam they release megsafe 2 , does it make any difference or is it the same?

Same thing. MagSafe 2 is just thinner to accommodate the thinner chassis on the new MacBook Pro with Retina display.

the magsafe 2 is the 'cylinder'? both my 2012s came with that.

No MagSafe 2 is the flat T-shaped aluminium plug (basically looks like the original plastic MagSafe 1 if you know what that looks like).

Uh-oh. Are you sure you have a 2012? 2012 *should* come with MS2.

Not so - it's only the Retina models that come with Magsafe 2.

The mid-2012 "Classic" MBP comes with a Magsafe 1 adapter; however the plug is redesigned as an "L" shape (rather than the "T" shape of older Magsafe 1 adapters) but it is still a Magsafe 1.

My own mid-2012 cMBP came with Magsafe 1, not 2; see the specs here for the cMBP:

http://www.apple.com/uk/macbook-pro/specs/

It lists "Magsafe Power Adapter"; whereas the specs for the 'retina' models:

http://www.apple.com/uk/macbook-pro/specs-retina/

specifically lists "Magsafe 2 Power Adapter".
