Hey everyone,

A few months ago, I got the MagSafe battery pack. I wasn’t satisfied with it, so I decided to return it to Apple. During the return process over the phone, they told me I could keep the device due to the risks of shipping batteries. I received a refund and kept the device, which was nice.

However, shortly after, the battery pack stopped working. It charges my phone and shows info when connected to my iPhone, but it remains stuck at 0% battery. It’s strange because the device works— it gets warm while charging— but the UI still shows 0%, and it only charges my phone for a few minutes once unplugged.

I know it sounds unlikely, but is it possible Apple disabled it after refunding me? The device has a serial number and still receives firmware updates.

It’s very possible, but would they bother to do with to do it is another question. Call Apple support and ask them? Maybe it just happened to malfunction.

Either way it’s no real loss to you because you didn’t pay for it and you didn’t like it so I’d say recycle it. Definitely don’t throw it in the landfill.
