I’m considering my options for bicycling with my iPhone when I upgrade soon.
I bought into the quad lock system and it has worked well, though it’s annoying sometimes also when getting it into place.

My question is has anyone used MagSafe for actually mounting their phone on a road bike?

I’m considering get a moment disk and then connecting it (via screw) to a quadlock out front mount.
the MagSafe charger at the Apple store seems to be very secure, I think this would work.
any thoughts? Anyone tried this?

I can't tell exactly what you are trying to do. But I would not use magsafe as the sole attachment mechanism for a bike. I would want a secure and locked mount in some way.

I have the moment wall mount and I attached it to a fish finder mount for my kayak. On my kayak, I want to be able to easily pull my phone off and put it back on, so using magsafe for that is really useful. On a bike, once the phone is attached I don't think you will be pulling it on and off, certainly not while riding. So while magsafe holds the phone on just fine, including when paddling through wind and waves, it is remarkable how easy it can be to leverage the phone off the mount by accidently clipping it with my foot. For me on the kayak, that means it slides 6 inches off the mount, but on a bike that would send the phone flying off.

I use quadlock out front mount with my 11 pro max. Ordered the new case for 13 pro max.

I currently have an iPhone X, so no MagSafe. I’ve been using a quad lock case and bike mount with this phone and it works great.

The kayaking example is what I wanted to hear. Since I’m upgrading to a MagSafe compatible phone I have been interested in the prospect of biking with only MagSafe.

I’ve gone ahead and ordered a Moment MagSafe wall mount for my 13 mini, but I don’t know if it will be sufficient for biking.

I’m a road biker (hobby bicyclist, not motorcycle), and looking at the iPhones in the apple store with the MagSafe charger I think it would be sufficient.. except for in a wreck.

I wouldn't trust MagSafe on my indoor trainer - I couldn't imagine using it on a real bike outdoors. That's a recipe for a broken phone the very first ride.

MagSafe isn’t strong enough for mounting on a bike IMO. I’ve had my phone fall off my car MagSafe mount and a MagSafe case on a rough bump.

I’d stick with the QuadLock case since you’ve already invested in that ecosystem. I’ll be picking up my quadlock case soon. It’s the most secure way of attaching my phone to my bike. It takes a few tries to mount but it’s worth once you figure it out. I’ve also attached a headlight under my QuadLock for safety and that’s secure.

How has the Moment worked for your 13 mini? I’ve been considering the same thing, just for urban cycling so there’s not much rough terrain

Shockingly well.
With my mini I could almost pick the bike up with just the MagSafe connection. Granted I have a road bike that’s fairly lite weight.

That being said I no longer use this solution but it was not because of MagSafe. Ultimately I couldn’t find an app that suited my biking needs and bought a dedicated bike computer.
