I bought this ebay magsafe car charger. Its essentially a clip mount and its rated for 15w on the box, using an aukey usb-c 30watt charger in my car. This isn't the most scientific measure but at least I have numbers. As you can see, I started charging at 55% and received 11.65w. Mini is limited to 12w magsafe charging according to Apple. At 62% it tapered to 7.77w until 67% where it tapered to 4.66w. Frankly I was surprised by how much this $19 charger was able to charge in a short time, 12% in 19 minutes. I wasn't really expecting much, I feared it would charge 1% only.
My question is, those who have magsafe chargers are you seeing the same tapering charge curve?
I know charging tapers many times to protect the battery.
I noticed my phone was warmer with the magsafe, warmer than fast charging with lightning to usb-c. But it wasn't uncomfortably warm (again no way for me to measure heat). If you look at the top of my screenshot, I used an anker portable battery pack PD charger on a different day. I went 39% to 62% in 10 minutes (while streaming to apple tv while charging). Maybe it could have reached a higher watt if I didn't stream and project content to the TV.
side note: I'll replace the clip mount to a ball mount, I do not get people who tolerate their AC being covered lol. I'll get a ball adapter.
