I realize that this may be a dumb question, but: How durable is the MagSafe cord (not the ends that connect to the power brick or the computer, which I fully understand can get frayed if one is not too careful, but the cord itself). I ask because I could certainly see running over the cable with a caster on my chair. FWIW, the cord on the model that came with my 2011 MBA seems quite solid (more so than the cord on the power cable on my 24" ACD and previous Macs).

I'd do my best to avoid that. I imagine they are fairly durable, but running over any thin cable like that can mess it up after a while.
