I think this is preferable, and I was hoping it wan’t weighted. I want this in my travel bag for use at hotels and our weekend trips to the coast.

Right now, I am using the MagSafe “puck” which of course is not weighted either. It’s not really a problem, but this case will be better because with one or two fingers, you can hold the charger down while you rotate the phone off,

I have no intention to use this at home. This will be my travel charger. Having one cord for both devices will be another benefit.

The magnets on the phone (they are even stronger in some cases) are so strong that to be useful on something this size I would have thought it would need to be weighted with lead, or even gold as it heavier, in order to make it useful. Mind, for the price it could be weighted with gold :)

I am concerned that holding down on the cable to remove the phone will eventually damage the wires like so many charging cables my kids broke. It would be handy if the stress relief sleeve was longer so I'm not holding down by the cable. I may just put some shrink tubing on it.

I'd prefer to not spend more money on a stand, instead of picking the whole thing up and separating the charger using both hands I'm going to double-sided tape mine to a vertical surface at my desk at eye level which I think sounds useful.

I don't think weighing it down would be something you would feel in your travel bag at all. I have the Apple watch travel charger and its weight isn't something i notice when I carry it in a bag.

I think its crazy that its not weighted. I can see people trying to pick the phone up and as the charger lifts up with the phone, the watch will go flying off on to the floor.
Like the other poster, I'm glad it isn't weighted as I bought it for travel. That said, picking it up is a complete non issue. The guy in the little video picked his phone up by the edges and pulled straight up. If you simply grasp the phone a bit better (hard to describe) where you curl your fingers under the phone while picking up, it comes loose and the magsafe duo stays put. Honestly for me it is the natural way to grab the phone so I don't drop it... I really have to consciously try hard to not grab it in a way to replicate the video.

Weighting would be great for a desktop charger, but not for a travel charger. I'm a minimalist (one-bag) traveler. I keep everything for 1-3 week trips in a 26L GoRuck GR1 backpack, so every ounce counts. I try to keep my bag under 16lbs when possible or else one bag travel becomes painful (literally). I was already able to eliminate quite a bit of weight by not traveling with a macbook charger and a phone charger. I only carry a Baseus 65W charger now that has two usb-c ports and a usb-a port...which is perfect for my needs. The magsafe Duo will work well coupled with that as my Macbook will take one port, the magsafe duo the other, and my USB-A powered noise canceling headphone get the final port. MagSafe leather sleeve and MagSafe Duo demo. Too bad the MagSafe duo is not weighted like the old circular Apple Watch Charging Dock (from @cnet) https://t.co/o4trFx3BRl

I thought it was going to be weighted so you can just pop the phone on and off without lifting the whole thing off the table.

A no buy for me.

For the sake of folks here, I just recorded a quick video with my iPad (excuse crappy quality). Bottom line is the assertion from the Cnet guy is utter nonsense. You can absolutely remove the phone one-handed.
