Magsafe Power Cord Not Charging - Light always On

I woke up this morning and my computer was dead so I plugged in the cord and still nothing. The light was green on the piece that connects to the computer but I also noticed when i took the plug out of the computer (while still connected to the wall outlet) it stayed lit green. Usually that isn't the case so I'm not sure what that means.

I have an external battery charger which was able to charge the battery and the macbook is running on just battery right now.

Is this a problem anyone is aware of with the Chargers? Will apple replace under applecare?

Thanks, but I've already done all the trouble shooting steps...thats why I'm here.

Just wondering if anyone has seen the green light stay on while not connected to the computer or heard of that issue and if they will replace under applecare.
