My magsafe connector is coming apart at the bend point at the top where it plugs in. I can see the wiring now. Should I take it to an authorized repair center and have it exchanged? For the time being... Is it safe to use? Would electrical tape help?

I work at an Apple Authorized reseller if you purchased it within two weeks we would exchange it, of course this may vary by computer store. You can put tape on it, but to be safe just pick up a new MagSafe, we sell ours for $79.00 dollars, which is the standard price.

by all means, take it back.
n.b. i saw a girl with the same problem a few weeks ago trying to exchange one, and the tech made the decision it was caused by operator abuse and that she needed to buy another one. i don't know how that transaction culminated, but don't settle for that same reply.

Yeah...

I'm pretty sure that would be covered under the original Apple year long warranty. Just go exchange it.
