Is there a quick way to determine whether a magsafe wallet is authentic?

I took a risk on an "open box" one on ebay. It seems solid and good, but it doesn't have a serial number anywhere and doesn't say "designed by Apple in California" or anything like that anywhere. I usually expect that on Apple products.

Can someone check their known authentic ones - do they have any of the typical Apple markings anywhere?

erm..even on Apple's website it doesnt have the design by Apple in California or serial numbers...
but if the magsafe is strong then im pretty sure its authentic. fake ones usually have weak magnets.

The issue with "weak" vs "strong" magnets is it's subjective unless you have both to A/B test.

As for Apple's notations, the website doesn't show them on the watch bands for example but they authentic watch bands have them.

If you can, post some pics and see of eagle eyed people can spot anything

This guys bought and compared official and knock offs, hope it can help you

Dont try to compare magnets, its impossible de verify, Apple users often believe official have the strongest and most of generic/knock off are junk or bad quality, its isnt really black and white
For magnet strength, i wouldn't say which one has the strongest magnets, its impossible to tell:
e.g someone on reddit said his 12 Pro Max fell off when he hits road bumps (using official magsafe charger)
I have ordered a knock off magsafe charger before i will get my iPhone 12 Mini, i trusted seller (who claim to be from same factory which worked for Apple)
The knock off is similar at 99,9%, i need to watch video in order to debunk the fake
Same thing, i have bought from marketplace where a seller (pro) told me, true iPhone SE leather case, i was doubtful when i opened it
If you are not aware of knock off, there is chance you cannot distinguish them
For the package, its subtil but still minor differences
You didnt have the package, so make sure to watch meticulously any detail
The knock off can have some finishing ''flaws''

in Indonesia.the knockoffs have really weak magnet...but thats just in Indonesia i guess.

As an update, I finally went to an Apple store and compared to an authentic wallet. I 100% had a fake, heh. The ebay seller said they'd give me a partial refund, but we'll see.

Here are the ways to tell the difference that I found:
- The real Magsafe wallet will cause an Magsafe animation on the phone when it is attached while the screen is off or on the lock screen. The fake one had no such animation.
- The real Magsafe wallet has a nylon-lined interior on one side, which makes it easier to slide cards out. The fake one was all pleather, the cards would "stick" to the inside and be hard to slide out.
- The real Magsafe wallet is thick enough to easily fit 3 cards with barely any effort. The fake one was tight with 2 cards, and 3 cards required serious cramming.
- The real Magsafe wallet texture is pretty matte. The fake one was shiney pleather.

Finally, as to magnet strength, the real one is MUCH stronger. But that is hard to determine unless you have both side by side or have experience with what a real one should feel like. However, the real Magsafe magnet-side is also much thicker and harder. The fake one magnet side is thinner and pretty bendy.
