Can anyone tell me how to get the New mail icon to pop up again. There use to be a little red star over the icon in the dock when i got new mail. Some how it dissapeared. I can't figure out how to get it back.

thanks

you might try to log out of your machine account and log back in again. The icon thing happened to me once and that's how I "fixed" it.

Did you try changing the Mail icon? Maybe try this:

  1. Press COMMAND (the Apple key) as you click on the Mail icon in your Dock so that it appears highlighted in Finder.
  2. Press COMMAND-I.
  3. Select the icon in the top of the Get Info page.
  4. Press DELETE.
  5. Close the Get Info page.
  6. Drag the Mail icon off the Dock.
  7. Drag the app back onto the Dock to re-add it.

The icon won't be deleted, but it'll just be reset to the default Mail icon. If you open up a new user account in System Preferences, see whether the problem carries through to that account. That'll help determine if it's a problem in your Home Library or not. :)

ok so i created the new account and setup one of the mail accounts and sure enough the red star was there. So there is something in my home library?

thanks for sticking with me on this!
