Can somebody PLEASE help me get this straight. I've read through
almost all of the comments here but there seems to be a lot of
disagreement about whether the original instructions (mapping Gmail's
Trash, Sent, & Drafts to Mail's Trash, Sent & Drafts) is good advice
or not.
I have an iPhone and use Gmail IMAP with Mail 3.1. The two irritating
things I'd like to change are:
1) Duplicate (unread) messages appear in the "All Mail" folder in Mail
3.0: so even when I click on a Gmail message in Mail's "Inbox" folder,
it still appears as unread in "All Mail". The only way I can get
those messages to be marked as read in "All Mail" is to go in there
and manually click on them. That's a real hassle.
2) Duplicate (unread) messages in my Gmail "labels" folders in Mail
3.0: I have Gmail set up to download mail from 3 POP accounts. Gmail
labels incoming mail from these folders, and puts them in folders with
the account name on the Gmail server. However, similar to the
situation with "All Mail" I described above, in Mail 3.0 I see
duplicate/unread copies of messages in those label folders even when I
have already clicked on them and even deleted them from the Mail 3.0
Inbox. Once again, the only way I can get them to be unread is to go
into the label folders on Mail 3.0 and click on them or "select all"
and "mark as unread".
If someone could help me with this I'd be SO grateful.
