I have set up my Mail to work with Gmail via POP, following the exact directions on the Gmail website to configure Mail to work. Mail will download my emails that are from businesses and such, but it won't download any personal emails. For example, I can download emails from Apple and Amazon just fine, but I can't download email conversations I am having with someone. What is happening?

Weird, never had that problem. Check Mail's rules and Gmail's filters.

The only Mail rules I have are for deleting emails with the word viagra in them, and I haven't sent up filters on Gmail.

I also don't have junk mail filtering on in Mail.

Goodtimes5, I've got a similar problem. I followed the instructions religiously and managed to get all messages from my gmail accont into Mail . That was 10 days ago, but since then any request to get new mail returns empty handed. I can SMTP though. Any tips?

POP gmail stops working or downloads only 1 at a time

Same problem here: the number of emails downloaded via POP from Gmail diminished until Mail.app stopped getting any emails,
Mail recently resumed downloading 1 message at a time, then stopped again.
Very bad for me since I'm on costly cell phone modem in rural areas!

I use the script "~/Library/Scripts/Mail scripts/Turn on logging.scpt" to view the POP session: it looks like Mail.app just QUITs after receiving the LIST of pending messages!

Ideas for troubleshooting are very welcome, or solutions
thanks
