Mail and google mail folder setup

Is there any way of setting up mail so that the emails go into the folders i've already set up in google mail? At the moment it just lists all the messages in the inbox but i want them to be in the specific folders that i've already put them in on gmail.

I believe you'd have to set up similar boxes on Mail and set up the same rules you're using on Google on Mail. Then once the front end setup is done, you'd run "Apply Rules" under the Message menu.
