I recently did a total erase and install of my hard drive. I then imported my mailboxes from a backup and everything worked perfectly, I can view all my old mails and my new mails continue to go into that in box as I want them to. However, both mail's search function and OS X's spotlight only search the new mails I've received since the revamp. When I do a search for the word "the" it only shows me result back to 2 months ago when I did the revamp.

How do I force mail.app and/or spotlight to reindex my inbox?

Try using Mainmenu.

I just used Onyx to make it rebuild the spotlight index, but it still won't search the old emails! This is a huge problem! I depend on being able to search my old emails for important information!

When spotlight was reindexing mail.app also wasn't able to do searches, so at least I that tells us that both spotlight and mail's search are definitely using the same search index.

Help!

I really need to be able to search my old emails!
