Mail.app badge icon even though mail was deleted on Mac

1. Receive a mail, and your badge icon will show (1)
2. Delete the mail on your Mac
3. The (1) stays on the badge until I open Mail.app

I had this issue before but was hoping it would be fixed in iOS 11.
Am I doing something wrong? I only have iCloud mail and everything pushes fine.

I've had similar issues with badge notifications on the Mail app. It won't update the unread badge notifications until you open up the app and let it sync. Previously it used to update automatically, so if you read your emails on another device, it would update accordingly.

It also does this sometimes even when you have read the email in the Mail app itself and takes a while for the badge notification to update. I thought they'd have ironed it out by now but its still an issue on the GM candidate since Beta 1.
