I am a new Mac user and am trying to setup the mail app to connect to my exchange 2003 mailbox at work, but it is telling me that the log in failed and to verify the username and password. All the info I put in is correct and have IMAP enabled on the server but still cannot connect.

I then created a new user in the exchange at work and setup the new user on the mail app and it was able to connect with no problem. Can someone please tell me why I am able to connect one user but not another user, is there some setting on the older user I need to change? Any input will help, thanks.

Jump on the server that is running exchange and then go into Active Directory Users and Computers - under Start - Programs - MS Exchange -

Review the tabs for the user you are having issues with and under one of the tabs there are options to disable IMAP/POP/Mobile etc. I believe it is called Exchange Features

Check there. Sorry I can't be more help - I am not in front of a Win2003 server

I checked the settings for both users and all the settings under exchange features (Outlook Web Acces, IMAP and POP) are enabled. I just don't understand why it works for newer user and not the older user. Any further help is appreciated, thanks.

I am having exactly the same problem. New users created on Exchange Server work on IMAP, but existing users do not.

Anyone have a solution to this?

I have checked this with Outlook 2010 as well using a Windows machine. I connected using IMAP (not exchange) and the results are the same. Any new user can connect using IMPA, but old users cannot. Tried it for 4 different users. Another anomaly I found was that the Exchange Administrator account worked on IMPA - although it is an old account.

It seems it is an Exchange Server issue... any help would be highly appreciated.
