Alright, I've searched the internet for a week now trying to find a forum discussion on this topic, but haven't found a thing. Here's the situation: I have had gmail (pop) and my regular email client (imap) on mail.app for a couple years, and everything is fine. I used cable internet before I moved and connected to a free wireless place at work after I moved waiting for my DSL to be installed. Now that it is, I cannot connect to the IMAP client anymore. If I delete the IMAP account, gmail loads just fine, so that's not the problem. The ports are all ok. But the IMAP client which uses SSL port 993 for inbound times out every time with the error "The server xxxx timed out on port 0." The same thing happens when I try to connect to the POP3 inbound server on SSL port 995. I can connect to the outbound server which uses SSL port 465 no problem.

As far as I can tell, all the ports on my modem/router are open. My ISP says they can reach the server no problem. I could connect before but not now. Nothing changed except that I am using a DSL modem/router for the first time. I've tried it with DHCP and routing manually, no difference.

I feel like I'm missing something basic. Anyone ever experience something like this?
