Mail.app crashing on launch, Time Machine no help

Help... I consider myself pretty computer literate and I've tried the standard things, stop all other running programs, reboot, etc., etc. but all of a sudden my Mail.app software started crashing on launch. The odd thing, is that I've done Time Machine restores (complete, overwrite the hard disk, restores) to even one day before this started happening and Mail still crashes.

I'm at a complete loss... any idea how to debug this crash? I suspect a badly formed email in one of my inboxes but not sure...
