Dear Gmail IMAP users,

I have started to set up my Mail.app to use the Gmail IMAP service. I have a query which I don't seem to be able to find the answer to myself. Having created the Gmail account, a new GMAIL "tree" appears on the same level as MAILBOXES and RSS.

Underneath this tree is a folder called [Gmail]. This folder is greyed out. Could anyone please tell me what a greyed out folder means? Underneath this folder are the blue subfolders: All Mail, Drafts, Sent Mail, Spam, Starred, and Trash.

Thank you for your kind assistance.

Thank you Swiftaw for your reply! Now I know it is safe to continue importing messages (i.e. upload) into the folder. It's so fun place all my old emails onto Gmail. Finally, synchronised mail online and offline. They backup and compliment each other.
