Mail App is starting to take up more and more space?

Ever since I upgraded to ios7, my mail app is taking up more and more space. I have everything syncing to the cloud and gmail and I don't have any large attachments (or small attachments) that would be taking up space in any of the folders since I cleaned them out. I tried deleting the account and adding it back but it eventually creeps back up in size. Anyone have any ideas?

Delete unwanted read emails. That's what I do. Cause they start to add up and take up a lot of space once it gets to the 300+ range.
