Does anyone else use the Hotmail plugin with Mail.app and Panther and have difficulty with losing email messages? They don't ever appear in Junk Mail or in my inBox. I just had a situation where I left Mail.app running over Thanksgiving, and I know I receive about 10-20 spams a day, but I don't have any messages between 11-26-03 and 11-30-03. This Hotmail plugin seems to be very buggy.

i believe this is a known bug in the 1.3 version of httpmail, appears quite a few people have experienced this.

Have you tried logging into hotmail in the last few days? They have changed everything. The Plug-in may no longer be functional. They even changed the name of the Junk Folder.

i just posted a thread about this issue in the software section.

what is the plugin to use hotmail in Mail?

where can I find it?

Does it work well? (messages above suggest maybe not)

Possible new version?

Thanks!

You can find it here:

I've found it immensely useful. I'd say that, while it does have its bugs, it is still a great addition to the capabilities of Mail.

Yep, it's still working, but it could be those changes over the weekend that hosed up my email. Maybe they were down or something. Thanks for the info.

Thirteenva: Do you know when a fix is scheduled for release? I checked the Sourceforge page and I couldn't even find a bug report acknowledging the issue.

Thanks!

httpmail caused regular crashes in mail.app for me so I just decided to not use it at some point. I leave mail.app running all the time, it seems like every two or so days Mail.app crashed in httpmail code. Also Mail.app was unquittable often while running httpmail. I would hit apple-Q and Mail.app just ignored it.

Now, instead, I use gotmail on my server to forward my hotmail email to an IMAP enabled account.

Great idea! I'll definitely check that out, since I run my own IMAP server as well. I just use the hotmail account as a "spam filter" for all my online shopping and stuff so I don't have to give out my real email address.
