Hey guys,

I have some issues regarding the badge on the Mail app icon that's supposed to display the count of unread mails: Since updating to macOS 15.4, it's sometimes missing. I've had 2 instances already when I had an unread mail in my mailbox but there was no "1" badge. The weird thing is that I also manually tested it by sending myself a mail from another account and then it worked.

So it seems like this feature is semi-broken for me since updating. Is anyone else also having this issue? Thanks!

You need to change the 2 general preferences in the Mail app to show the unread count and notifications for all inboxes. The update automatically changes it to only show for the primary category, so by default the badge will only show up for emails it deems “primary” which is why sending yourself an email works.

That's it, thanks so much! I don't get it at all why Apple changed this, even though I disabled categories... Makes no sense to me but now it's back to how I want it, thanks again!
